Robot Framework 7.1 has been released! 🤖

Robot Framework 7.1 is a feature release with enhancements, for example, to the listener interface and to the VAR syntax that was introduced in Robot Framework 7.0. For more information about them and various other enhancements and bug fixes, see the release notes

Probably the most visible change to normal users is that paths to result files written to the console after execution are nowadays hyperlinks on consoles that support them. That includes most commonly used console applications, including Windows Terminal that is nowadays used by default on Windows 11, but the old Windows Console is not compatible.

Huge thanks to Robot Framework Foundation, to community members who provided valuable contributions, and to everyone else who has tested preview releases, submitted bug reports, proposed enhancements, debugged problems, or otherwise helped with Robot Framework 7.1 development.

Now that Robot Framework 7.1 is out, we will start Robot Framework 7.2 development already next week. The planning has already started on the #roadmap and #devel channels on our Slack, and the current list of issues targeted for Robot Framework 7.2 can be found from the issue tracker.

Because we are going to continue with Robot Framework 7.2 pretty much immediately, it is important that you test Robot Framework 7.1 in your environment soon and report possible problems. Once Robot Framework 7.2 development starts, we will consider creating Robot Framework 7.1.x bug fix releases only if there are critical regressions and other fixes need to wait for Robot Framework 7.2.
