Problems installing Browser library on Mac | Building wheel for grpcio (pyproject.toml)

I am trying to install browser library on a macbook pro and I get stuck in “Building wheel for grpcio (pyproject.toml) …”, it stays there forever.

I have the latest versions of node, python, grpcio, setuptools…

Anyone had a similar problem or know how to fix this?

Having a similar problem on Windows, although my installation does not hang but complains about “This package requires Visual Studio 2017 (MSVC++ 15.0) or higher.” . The same requirements install without problems on Linux, though.

I think this has to do with the installed python version, actually… @fabbud 's original post was on 13 Oct, exactly the same date as browser library announced 17.5.2 with the note “Browser library 17.5.2 is comes with new version of grpcio to support Python 3.12” → so I assume python 3.12, at least before 17.5.2, was too new
