The Robot Framework is an open-source automation system used for software test automation and process automation. It was born Pekka Klärck in from a master’s thesis at the Helsinki University of Technology in 2005, and since then, an association Robot Framework Foundation and an international community have been built around it, which gathers annually for the RoboCon conference held in Helsinki.
In its justification, the award jury praises how Klärck’s insight from his time as a student has grown into a globally significant ecosystem.
The jury consisted of last year’s winners of the Finnish Code Promoter Award Pasi Vuorio and Susanna Kallio, Member of Parliament Timo Harakka, CEO of AI Finland Karoliina Partanen and Chairman of the Board Janne Kalliola representing the Code from Finland association.
“The award is a well-deserved recognition of exceptional life’s work that has put Finnish expertise on the world map and created a critical backbone for the high-quality software development of the future,” says Pasi Vuorio.
