# How to paste data from file

Hi Everyone,

I want to paste data from a file into the text field, can you please suggest a way to do this?  
I could not find any keywords related to copy and paste functionality

Hi Madhurya,

If it’s just a text file [Get File](http://robotframework.org/robotframework/latest/libraries/OperatingSystem.html#Get%20File) will give you the contents of the text file as a variable that you can just pass to [Input Text](https://robotframework.org/SeleniumLibrary/SeleniumLibrary.html#Input%20Text) or similar.

would probably look something like this:

```python
${FileText}= Get File c:/path/to/mytextfile.txt
Input Text //textarea[@id="mytextfield"] ${FileText}

```
