**Hello everyone,**
We are planning to replace our current testing tool for **IBM EWM Eclipse Client**. We have been using **RCPTT** so far, but now we are exploring newer technologies for this purpose. **Robot Framework** came up as one of the options on our list.

Before starting a POC, I’d like to understand from the community how suitable **Robot Framework** is for testing **thick-client applications** , especially **Eclipse-based clients**. If anyone has experience, recommendations, or challenges to share, I’d really appreciate your input.

Hi, I have very limited experience in thick-client testing with Robot Framework, but you might find existing libraries for GUI/app testing useful: [https://github.com/MarketSquare/awesome-robotframework#gui-and-applications](https://github.com/MarketSquare/awesome-robotframework#gui-and-applications)

There’s also the [PlatynUI](https://github.com/imbus/robotframework-PlatynUI) library, which could be interesting for you.

I’m currently working on a side project for a generic Java UI library that will allow us to steer swing, swt and rcp applications.

It might take a few more days until it’s ready for production usage, but I can let you know once some comprehensive testing with eclipse rcp applications has been completed.

Did some further development on the RCP part and added tests with DBeaver (which is an eclipse RCP applications).
Feel free to give it a try, I haven’t done any manual tests or exploration yet
